SUSPECT IN ONGOING DRUG INVESTIGATION LOCATED AND ARRESTED

(North Spirit Lake First Nation, ON) – Police charged a Winnipeg man connected to an ongoing drug trafficking investigation after he was located and arrested in North Spirit Lake First Nation late last month.
A male suspect was identified through an investigation by the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service’s Intelligence Unit into drug trafficking activity within the community of North Spirit Lake First Nation.
The suspect was located and arrested without incident in the community on Thursday, July 30.
During the arrest, police seized a quantity of cash believed to have been obtained through drug trafficking activity.
Jordan Birrell, 32, of Winnipeg, is charged with:
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
He appeared for a bail hearing on Friday, July 31, and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
The investigation remains ongoing.
