FENTANYL, CRYSTAL METH SEIZED IN ATTAWAPISKAT FOLLOWING SEARCH

(Attawapiskat First Nation, ON) – Police seized fentanyl and methamphetamine following the search of a home in Attawapiskat First Nation Tuesday.

Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service’s Intelligence Unit, Emergency Response Team and K9 Unit, with assistance from frontline officers, executed a search warrant at a residential address on Elm Street in Attawapiskat First Nation on Tuesday, Aug. 4.

The warrant was obtained as a result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking activity within the community.

When police entered the home, they located and arrested a female suspect without incident.

Following their search, police located and seized a quantity of fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

The estimated street value of drugs seized totals more than $21,000.

Shelley Anne NOAH, 34, of Attawapiskat First Nation, is charged with:

  • Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking

NOAH appeared for a bail hearing on Wednesday, Aug. 5, and was remanded into custody with a future court date.
