UNCONSCIOUS DRIVER ARRESTED, CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED OPERATION
(Apitipi Anicinapek Nation, ON) – Reports of an unconscious male in a vehicle near Highway 101 led to impaired driving charges Thursday.
Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service’s Apitipi Anicinapek Nation detachment received a call for service in the morning hours of Thursday, Oct. 1, regarding a possible unconscious person in a vehicle at the end of Reserve Road by Highway 101.
Officers responded and located the vehicle, along with a male sitting on the driver’s side.
When officers approached the male, they observed several signs of impairment. The male was taken into custody and transported to the Timmins Police Service for further evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).
The results of that examination concluded the male was impaired by drug.
A 32-year-old male from Apitipi Anicinapek Nation is charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Drug Concentration
The accused was returned to the Apitipi Anicinapek Nation detachment and has since been released from custody with conditions and a future court date.
