YOUTH ARRESTED, COCAINE SEIZED IN EABAMETOONG FIRST NATION

(Eabametoong First Nation, ON) – Police seized a quantity of cocaine following the search of two homes in Eabametoong First Nation Sunday.

Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service’s Intelligence Unit, with assistance from the NAPS Emergency Response Team and K9 Unit, executed a search warrant on Sunday, May 31, at a residential address in the 500 block of Eabamet Crescent in Eabametoong First Nation.

Upon entering the home, officers located and arrested a female suspect without incident. A subsequent search of the residence led to the seizure of a quantity of suspected cocaine.

Police executed a second search that same day at a residential address in the 400 block of Fort Albany Crescent. Following that search officers located and seized paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

Both search warrants were obtained as a result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking activity within the community.

The estimated street value of drugs seized totals more than $10,000.

A 17-year-old female of Eabametoong First Nation is charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

The accused has since been released with conditions and a future court date. The name of the accused is being withheld in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
