FENTANYL TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARREST

(Cochrane, Ont.) – Police arrested a male suspect, and seized a quantity of fentanyl, following an investigation into drugs being smuggled to Moosonee from Cochrane, Ont., by train.

Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service’s Intelligence Unit learned about a male suspect transporting suspected Fentanyl into Moosonee from Cochrane on Monday, May 25.

Through their investigation, police identified the male suspect and seized a quantity of suspected Fentanyl.

With assistance from members of the OPP’s Cochrane Detachment and the OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit, the male was located and arrested without incident in Cochrane, Ont., on Tuesday, May 26.

The estimated street value of drugs seized during this investigation totals $40,000.

Spenser MOORE, 24, of Moose Factory First Nation, is charged with:

• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking

He appeared for a bail hearing on Wednesday, May 27, and was remanded into custody with a future court date.
