COCAINE, FENTANYL, CRYSTAL METH AND SHOTGUN SEIZED IN BRUNSWICK HOUSE FIRST NATION
(Brunswick House First Nation) – Police arrested four, and seized a quantity of drugs and a shotgun, following the search of a Brunswick House First Nation home Wednesday.
Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service’s Intelligence Unit, with support from members of the NAPS Emergency Response Team, K9 Unit, frontline Brunswick House First Nation detachment officers, and members of the OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit, executed a search warrant at a residential address in the community of Brunswick House First Nation on Wednesday, May 13.
The search warrant was obtained as a result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking activity occurring within Brunswick House First Nation.
When police entered the home, they located and arrested four suspects without incident.
Following a search of the home, police located and seized a quantity of Fentanyl, Cocaine, Crystal Methamphetamine, Suboxone tablets, Morphine capsules, a shotgun, cash, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.
Cash seized totaled nearly $8,900. The estimated street value of drugs seized totals nearly $9,200.
Amanda BELISLE, 45, of Hamilton, Ont., is charged with:
- Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Buprenorphine (Suboxone) for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
Anwar Shane JAMES, 25, of Pickering, Ont., is charged with:
- Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Buprenorphine (Suboxone) for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
Johnny Dominick NESHAWABIN, 47, of Chapleau, Ont., is charged with:
- Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Buprenorphine (Suboxone) for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Resist Peace Officer
Margaret Ann QUAKEGESIC, 58, of Brunswick House First Nation, is charged with:
- Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Buprenorphine (Suboxone) for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
All four accused appeared for a bail hearing on Thursday, May 14. NESHAWABIN was released with conditions and a future appearance date. The other three accused were remanded into custody with future appearance dates.
