FENTANYL, COCAINE, AMONG DRUGS SEIZED IN ATTAWAPISKAT FIRST NATION

(Attawapiskat First Nation) – Police arrested and charged a female after seizing a quantity of suspected Fentanyl and Cocaine in Attawapiskat First Nation Wednesday.

Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service working out of the Attawapiskat First Nation detachment received a call for service from community peacekeepers regarding an incident on Airport Road on Wednesday, April 22.

When police officers arrived on scene, they learned that a female had attempted to enter the community with illicit drugs.

A female suspect was identified, located, and arrested without incident at the scene.

As a result of continued investigation, police located and seized a quantity of suspected Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Oxycodone tablets.

The estimated street value of drugs seized totals more than $115,000 CAD.

A 32-year-old female from Attawapiskat First Nation, is charged with:

• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking

She has since been released from custody with conditions and a future court date.

The names of accused persons are withheld until the charges against them are sworn in before the courts.
