METHAMPHETAMINE SEIZED IN ATTAWAPISKAT DURING ARREST

(Attawapiskat First Nation) – A woman arrested by police on outstanding warrants Wednesday now faces an additional charge relating to drug trafficking.

Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service working out of the Attawapiskat First Nation detachment were on routine community patrol in the afternoon hours of Tuesday, Jan. 27, when they observed a female known to be wanted on outstanding warrants.

Officers approached the female as she was exiting a business on Balsam Street. She was taken into custody without incident.

Upon further investigation, police learned the female was also in possession of a quantity of suspected Methamphetamine, which was seized by officers.

The estimated street value of drugs seized totals more than $12,400.

Cassandra Noah, 29, of Attawapiskat First Nation, is charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking

She appeared for a bail hearing on Wednesday, Jan. 28, and was released with conditions and a future court appearance date.
