FIVE ARRSETED, $60K WORTH OF DRUGS SEIZED IN CHAPLEAU

(Chapleau, ON) – Police arrested five suspects and seized $60,000 worth of drugs during the search of a Chapleau home Wednesday.

Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service’s Intelligence Unit, with assistance from frontline NAPS officers from the Brunswick House detachment, and members of the OPP’s Chapleau detachment, executed a search warrant at a residential address in Chapleau, Ont., in the evening hours of Wednesday, Oct. 22.

The warrant was obtained through the course of a NAPS Intelligence Unit investigation into drug trafficking activity in the Chapleau, Ont., and Brunswick House First Nation area.

Police located five suspects inside the home. All were arrested without incident.

During the search, police located and seized a quantity of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, a rifle, cash, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking

The estimated street value of drugs seized totals $60,000, and cash seized totals more than $7,000.

Trina CHOKOMOLIN, 44, of Moose Factory First Nation, is charged with:

  • Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Hydromorphone for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of MDMA for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule 3 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule 4 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000

Demetrious FARRELL, 26, of Apitipi Anicinapek Nation, is charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Hydromorphone for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of MDMA for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule 3 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule 4 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm

Tyler FREE, 38, of Timmins, Ont., is charged with:

  •  Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Hydromorphone for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of MDMA for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule 3 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule 4 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000

Patrick HRYHORCHUK, 49, of Chapleau, Ont., is charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Hydromorphone for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of MDMA for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule 3 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule 4 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000

Dylan Robert MCWATCH, 33, of Brunswick House First Nation, is charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Hydromorphone for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of MDMA for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule 3 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule 4 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000

All five accused appeared in bail court on Thursday, Oct. 23, and were remanded into custody with future court appearance dates.
