COCAINE, OXYCODONE SEIZED FROM NORTH SPIRIT LAKE HOME

(North Spirit Lake, ON) – Police seized cocaine, oxycodone, and cash with a combined value of more than $110,000 CAD following the search of a home in North Spirit Lake First Nation Sunday.

Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service’s Intelligence Unit, Emergency Response Team, and frontline officers working out of the North Spirit Lake First Nation detachment, executed a search warrant at a residential address on Sunday, July 6.

The warrant was obtained as a result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking activity within North Spirit Lake First Nation.

When officers entered the home, they located and arrested a female suspect without incident.

Following their search police located and seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, oxycodone pills, more than $15,500 in cash, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

The estimated street value of drugs seized totals nearly $95,000 CAD.

Two other suspects connected to this investigation were located and arrested in the community that same day.

A 31-year-old female from North Spirit Lake First Nation is charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Oxycodone for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

A 53-year-old male from North Spirit Lake First Nation is charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Oxycodone for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

A 23-year-old female from Fort Hope First Nation is charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Oxycodone for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

All three have since been released with conditions and a future court appearance date.

The identity of accused individuals is withheld until charges against them have been formally sworn before the courts.
