SUSPECT ARRESTED, COCAINE SEIZED IN WUNNUMIN LAKE
(WUNNUMIN LAKE, ON) – Police arrested a female suspect and seized a quantity of suspected crack cocaine following an incident at the community’s airport Saturday.
Nishnawbe Aski Police Service officers working out of the Wunnumin Lake First Nation detachment received a call for service on Saturday, June 14, regarding an ongoing incident at the community’s airport.
When police arrived, they learned airport security became aware of an individual suspected of bringing drugs into the community.
Further investigation revealed the suspect was in possession of a quantity of suspected crack cocaine and a synthetic opioid known as Buprenorphine.
The estimated street value of the cocaine seized totals more than $77,000 CAD.
The accused was taken into custody without further incident.
Emily Rebecca SHAWINIMASH, 22, of Wunnumin Lake First Nation, is charged with:
- Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Buprenorphine for the Purpose of Trafficking
She has since been released from custody with conditions and a future appearance date.
