MVC INVOLVING PEDESTRIAN UNDER INVESTIGATION

(Deer Lake First Nation) – Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in Deer Lake First Nation.

Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service working out of the Deer Lake First Nation detachment responded to a reported motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the late hours of April 29, 2026.

When police arrived on scene, they located an injured adult male, who was being treated by paramedics. The victim was transported to the community nursing station for further evaluation and treatment of his injuries.

The exact nature of those injuries is not known at this time but is not believed to be life-threatening.

As a result of continued investigation, an adult male driver was identified and arrested without incident at the scene. He is expected to appear in court today on charges related to Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm.

The investigation remains ongoing and involves members of the NAPS Crime Unit alongside OPP Technical Collision Investigators.
