POLICE SEIZE $110K IN METHAMPHETAMINE FOLLOWING AIRPORT ARREST

(Attawapiskat First Nation) – Police seized more than $110,000 worth of crystal methamphetamine and methamphetamine pills after responding to a disturbance at the community airport in Attawapiskat First Nation Tuesday, Nov. 18.

Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service working out of the Attawapiskat First Nation detachment responded to a call for service in the afternoon hours of Tuesday, Nov. 18, regarding a disturbance at the community airport.

When police arrived, they located a female who was eventually taken into custody for trespassing. Further investigation revealed she was in possession of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine pills and crystal methamphetamine.

The estimated street value of drugs seized totals $110,000.

A 30-year-old female from Attawapiskat First Nation, is charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine (pills) for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking

She has since been released from custody with conditions and a future court appearance date.

The names of accused persons are withheld until the charges against them have been sworn before the courts.
