COCAINE, RIFLES SEIZED DURING BEARSKIN LAKE SEARCH

(Bearskin Lake First Nation) – Police seized suspected cocaine and four firearms following the search of a Bearskin Lake First Nation home Thursday.

Members of the Nishnawbe Aksi Police Service’s Intelligence Unit executed a search warrant, with assistance from frontline officers working out of the community detachment, in the morning hours of Thursday, Sept. 4, at a residential address in Bearskin Lake First Nation.

The warrant was obtained as a result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking activity within the community.

Two suspects were located and arrested without incident.

As a result of the search, police located and seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, suboxone pills, cash, paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking, and four rifles.

The estimated street value of drugs seized totals nearly $54,000 CAD.

A 36-year-old male from Dryden, Ont., is charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Buprenorphine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x 4

A 48-year-old female from Bearskin Lake First Nation, is charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Buprenorphine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x 4

Both have since been released from custody with a future court appearance date of Nov. 10, 2025.

The names of accused individuals are only released after charges against them have been sworn before the courts.
