COCAINE SEIZED AMID SEARCH OF NIBINAMIK FIRST NATION HOMES

(Nibinamik First Nation) – Police seized nearly $150,000 worth of cocaine and crack cocaine following the search of two Nibinamik First Nation homes Tuesday.

Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service’s Intelligence Unit, with assistance from the NAPS Emergency Response Team, executed search warrants at two residential addresses in Nibinamik First Nation on Monday, March 9.

The search warrants were obtained as a result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking within the community.

Three suspects were identified and arrested at the scene without incident.

Following their search, police located and seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, cash, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

The estimated street value of drugs seized totals more than $147,000 CAD.

Rebecca Lorraine MCINNES, 45, of Winnipeg, is charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

A 35-year-old female from Nibinamik First Nation, is charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

A 32-year-old female from Nibinamik First Nation, is charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

MCINNES appeared for a bail hearing on Tuesday, March 10 and was remanded into custody with a future court date. The other two suspects have been released from custody with conditions and a future court date. The names of suspects are withheld until charges against them have been sworn in before the courts.
