POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED IMPAIRED DRIVER IN KASABONIKA LAKE FIRST NATION

(Kasabonika Lake First Nation) – Police arrested a suspected impaired driver after community members reported a pick-up truck being driven erratically near the winter roads Thursday.

Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service working out of the Kasabonika Lake First Nation detachment received information about a motorist driving erratically on the winter roads surrounding the community in the nighttime hours of Thursday, Feb. 12.

Officers located a white pick-up truck matching the description provided and conducted a traffic stop.

When officers approached the motorist, they observed multiple signs of impairment by alcohol. She was taken into custody without incident.

Police also located a suspected alcohol container inside the vehicle.

A 46-year-old female of Kasabonika Lake First Nation, is charged with:

• Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired – Alcohol and Drug

She was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for Friday, Feb. 13.

The names of accused individuals are withheld until the charges against them have been sworn in before the courts.
