THREE ARRESTED, FENTANYL AND METH SEIZED, IN FORT ALBANY
(Fort Albany First Nation) – Police arrested three suspects, and seized a quantity of Fentanyl and Methamphetamine, during a pair of searches connected to ongoing drug trafficking investigations within Fort Albany First Nation.
Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service Intelligence Unit, with support from the NAPS Emergency Response Team and assistance from frontline NAPS officers, executed search warrants at two residential addresses in the community on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
When police entered the first home on Riverside Road they located and arrested a suspect without incident.
A search of the home led police to locate and seize a quantity of suspected Suboxone tablets, cash, a shotgun with ammunition, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.
When police entered the second home on Third Street, they located and arrested two suspects without incident.
A search of that home led to the seizure of a quantity of suspected Fentanyl, Crystal Methamphetamine, cash, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.
A 41-year-old male from Fort Albany First Nation is charged with:
- Possession of Suboxone (opioid) for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
A 41-year-old male from Fort Albany is charged with:
- Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
A 37-year-old female from Fort Albany First Nation is charged with:
- Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $S5,000
All accused have since been released from custody with future court appearance dates. The names of accused are withheld until charges against them have been sworn before the courts.
The investigations remain ongoing.
