TWO ARRESTED, CRYSTAL METHAMPHETAMINE & OXYCODONE SEIZED
(Constance Lake First Nation) – Police arrested two suspects and seized $71,000 worth of drugs following the search of a Constance Lake First Nation home Tuesday.
Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service’s Intelligence Unit, with assistance from the NAPS Emergency Response Team, the OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit, and NAPS members working out of the Constance Lake detachment, executed a search warrant in the evening hours of Tuesday, Nov. 18 at a residential address in the community.
The warrant was obtained as a result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking activity within Constance Lake First Nation. When police entered the home, they located and arrested two suspects without incident.
Following their search, police located and seized a quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine tablets, oxycodone tablets, currency, rifle ammunition, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.
The estimated street value of drugs seized totals $71,000 CAD.
Gina SUTHERLAND, 30, of Constance Lake First Nation, is charged with:
• Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
She has since been released with conditions and a future court appearance date.
Ernest TAYLOR, 75, of Constance Lake First Nation, is charged with:
• Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking x 2
• Possession of Oxycodone for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
• Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
He appeared for a bail hearing on Wednesday, Nov. 19 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date of Nov. 21, 2025.
