TWO ARRESTED, FIREARM AND FENTANYL SEIZED

(Brunswick House, ON) – Police seized fentanyl and a firearm following the search of a Brunswick House First Nation home Wednesday morning.

Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service’s Intelligence Unit, with assistance from the NAPS Emergency Response Team, frontline members of the NAPS Brunswick House detachment, and members of the OPP’s Chapleau detachment, executed a search warrant at a residential address in Brunswick House First Nation in the morning hours of Wednesday, Oct. 22.

The warrant was obtained as a result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking within the community.

During the search, police located and seized a quantity of suspected fentanyl and a rifle. Two suspects were located in the home and taken into custody without incident.

A 43-year-old male from Brunswick House First Nation is charged with:

  • Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

A 39-year-old female from Brunswick House First Nation is charged with:

  • Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

Both accused have since been released from custody with conditions and future court appearance dates. The names of accused individuals are withheld until charges against them have been sworn before the courts.
