SUSPECT ARRESTED, COCAINE AND METHAMPHETAMINE SEIZED

(North Spirit Lake, ON) – Police arrested a female suspect, and seized a quantity of cocaine and methamphetamine, following an incident at the North Spirit Lake First Nation airport Thursday.

Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service working out of the North Spirit Lake First Nation detachment received a call for service on Thursday, June 19, regarding a suspect possibly bringing drugs into the community from the airport.

When police arrived at the scene they located a female suspect. Upon further investigation, police located and seized a quantity of crack cocaine, cocaine, and methamphetamine.

The estimated street value of drugs seized totals nearly $54,000 CAD.

The accused was taken into custody without incident.

Katrina Wanda MEEKIS, 33, of North Spirit Lake First Nation, is charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking

She appeared for a bail hearing on Friday, June 20, and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
