ASSAULT SUSPECT LOCATED AND ARRESTED
(Fort Hope, ON) – Police arrested a youth following an incident where a rock was thrown, and struck, a member of band security while they were driving an ATV Friday.
Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service working out of the Fort Hope First Nation detachment received a call for service in the morning hours of Friday, June 20, regarding an assault that had recently occurred in the community.
Officers were dispatched to the community arena where an alleged suspect was said to be. When officers arrived, they located a male suspect. After further investigation the male was taken into custody.
Police learned a member of the Fort Hope First Nation band security was struck by a rock that was thrown toward them while they were driving a four-wheeler ATV. The victim was transported to the community nursing station for further evaluation and treatment of their injuries.
A 14-year-old male from Fort Hope First Nation is charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon
The accused appeared for a bail hearing and was released with conditions and a future court appearance date.
The identity of the accused is being withheld in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
