ASSAULT INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARREST
(North Spirit Lake, ON) – Police arrested a male suspect following the investigation into a serious assault in North Spirit Lake Sunday.
Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service working out of the North Spirit Lake First Nation detachment received a call for service in the evening hours of Sunday, June 22, regarding an assault that had recently occurred in the community.
When police arrived on scene at the North Spirit Lake First Nation home, they found an adult male victim who appeared to have significant injuries consistent with a recent assault.
The victim was transported to the community clinic for further evaluation and treatment of their injuries.
As a result of continued investigation, a male suspect was identified, located, and arrested without incident on Airport Road.
During the arrest, the accused became agitated and threatened the arresting officers.
Lucan CAMPBELL, 31, of North Spirit Lake First Nation is charged with:
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
The accused appeared for a bail hearing on Monday, June 23, and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
