TWO ARRESTED, $260K IN COCAINE, OXYCODONE SEIZED AT AIRPORT

(North Spirit Lake, ON) – Two suspects, including a Winnipeg man, face charges relating to drug trafficking following an incident at the North Spirit Lake First Nation airport Sunday.

Nishnawbe Aski Police Service officers working out of the North Spirit Lake First Nation detachment received a call for service regarding an incident at the community airport in the morning hours of Sunday, June 15.

When officers arrived, they learned two suspects had entered the community from a Winnipeg flight and were in possession of suspected drugs.

Upon further investigation, police learned the two suspects were in possession of a quantity of suspected crack cocaine and Oxycodone.

A male suspect was taken into custody without incident, and the suspected crack cocaine and Oxycodone were seized.

The estimated street value of drugs seized totals more than $260,000 CAD.

Adrian FONTAINE, 38, of Winnipeg, is charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Oxycodone for the Purpose of Trafficking

Charges against a second suspect – a 25-year-old female of North Spirit Lake First Nation – are pending.

The male accused appeared for a bail hearing on Monday, June 16, and was remanded into custody with a future court date.

The investigation remains ongoing.
