GENERAL: The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service requires one (1) CPIC Operator/SOR Coordinator for our Northeast Region based in Cochrane, ON. This is a full-time position and will work Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week.
PLEASE NOTE: The Northeast Regional Office will be relocating to Timmins, ON within the next two years. This position will only work out of Cochrane until this transition occurs.
Summary:
The successful applicant will receive, enter, modify and transmit confidential information pertaining to property, vehicles and persons into Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) and other computerized information systems, ensuring quality of inputted data/information to provide information from databanks to authorized agencies and personnel.
Mandatory Requirements:
• The successful applicant must be available to attend a 1-week training course at Ontario Police College in Aylmer, ON.
• Ability to pass NAPS security clearance and background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficient in all Microsoft applications with the ability to learn new programs;
• Clear understanding and adherence to confidentiality;
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks;
• Strong attention to detail;
• High level of written communication skills including grammar and spelling;
• Knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) is considered an asset;
• Familiarity with RMS Niche and Enterpol is considered an asset;
• Knowledge of the Ontario Sex Offender Registry (SOR) is considered an asset.

Summary:
The position is responsible for supporting the Media Relations Coordinator with the day-to-day marketing, media relations, communications and administrative tasks of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service Communications/Media Relations Unit; with a focus on ensuring positive, effective, and consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Post secondary degree/diploma in a related field; along with 2 years of relevant experience in a communications/marketing support role.
• Experience in either an agency or corporate environment with digital content creation, implementation and design for web, social media and other digital platforms.
• Knowledge of public relations, promotion and marketing concepts and special events management to assist in the organization and coordination of related activities,
• Experience using and overseeing content management systems and social media management platform.
• Knowledge of web analytics (preferably Google Analytics) and knowledge of producing and implementing web/social media strategies as well as familiarity with Search Engine Optimization and Performance (SEO, SEP).
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, After Effects, InDesign, and Acrobat), web management platforms, eNewsletter platforms, audio and video editing software and a variety of social media channels.
• Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public and officials at all levels, and to maintain confidentiality.
• High attention to detail, problem-solving, and time management skills;
• Superior interpersonal and communication skills;
• Ability to pass a NAPS security background check and criminal record check.
Key Responsibilities:
• Works under the direction of the Media Relations Coordinator and assists the Media Relations Coordinator in:
a) Reviewing, proofreading and editing of media releases;
b) NAPS recruitment marketing; including assisting with advertising campaigns, career fairs, promotional materials and community outreach efforts;
c) Assisting with the monitoring of media coverage; including print, television, social media and online news media;
d) Administrative support with crisis and emergency communications;
e) Administrative and coordination support with special events, ceremonies, press conferences, public meetings, and community initiatives;
f) Marketing campaigns across media platforms; including administrative support with monitoring and evaluation, utilizing performance metrics;
g) Recommending content for various media platforms; providing input with social media strategies; and
h) Contributing to NAPS Intranet/Website; assisting with the content.
• Maintains and updates social media profiles, engaging with followers, and monitoring social media trends, ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms.
• Coordinate communications calendars, project timelines, meetings and approvals. Responsible for meeting minutes, meeting agendas, updates and changes for meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Process invoices, purchase orders, advertising requests, and vendor coordination related to communications and marketing initiatives.
• Maintain media contact databases, photography archives, branding templates, and communication records.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Guard
In order to apply you must meet the following criteria:
- Be 19 years of age or older
- Be of good character and not have a criminal record for which a pardon has no been granted

As of October 1, 2023, rate of pay for Guards is $30.00 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay. Guards who are willing to complete Caretaker duties separate of their Guard duties will be compensated at $25.00 per hour. Duties for Caretaker may include light cleaning, snow removal for walkways and lawn care. Caretaker duties are optional while employed as a Guard.

GENERAL: The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service requires one (1) Mechanic based in Thunder Bay, ON to serve the Central, North West, and North East Regions. This full-time position will work Monday – Friday, 8 hour per day, 40 hours per week, between 0800 – 1700.
Summary:
This position is responsible to perform preventative maintenance, equipment/systems installation and removal, and repairs for the NAPS vehicle fleet, scheduling and prioritizing work. Negotiation and purchase of new vehicles and equipment and sale of surplus vehicle and equipment inventory. This position will require travel to remote communities. The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel by all modes of transportation as needed.
Qualifications:
• Must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License;
• Must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class A Driver’s Licence to transport police service vehicles and equipment to various locations on a flat deck trailer;
• Must possess and maintain Automotive Service Technician License;

GENERAL: The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service requires one (1) civilian to fill the full-time positions of Digital Evidence Management Systems Administrator. The position is based out of our General Headquarters located in Thunder Bay, ON.
Summary:
Reporting to the Digital Evidence Management Systems Coordinator, the Digital Evidence Management Administrator is responsible for receiving, reviewing, and processing requests for multimedia digital evidence to meet policy and investigative requirements.
The DEMS Administrator plays a crucial role in criminal investigations and court disclosure, administering the retention and destruction of records within digital evidence management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of Relevant sections of NAPS policies, protocols, procedures and practices, relevant case law regarding timely disclosure of evidence, including PCC audio and basic procedures related to specific sections of Federal and Provincial Statutes;
• Knowledge of Relevant sections of legislation, including but not limited to, Community Safety and Policing Act (CSPA), Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), Rules of Civil Procedure, Police Orders, and any and all other Acts or policies relating to the disclosure of confidential information;
• Knowledge of Relevant computer software applications to accurately retrieve a high volume of confidential police occurrence information, i.e. NAPS RMS system, audio and video processing/redaction software;
• Knowledge of records management practices for both hard copy and computerized records;

Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the orderly operation of general duties within their assigned Unit. Involves performing technical and administrative law enforcement functions;
• Control, collect, redact, disclose, destroy, and manage the disposition of digital evidence, utilizing various technologies to monitor and fulfill requests;
• Locate, extract and store required multimedia digital evidence, for example audio (dispatch and telephone calls) and operational video, as operationally required in accordance with outlined unit policies and procedures;
• Utilize multimedia redaction software to process Provincial Communication Centre (PCC) and officer recordings in adherence to unit guidelines and policies;
• Liaise with the relevant PCC, requesting frontline officers and other detachment personnel via email or telephone to receive direction and/or to clarify and obtain missing information;
• Other duties as assigned.
