The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service requires one (1) Temporary Office Administrator based in Cochrane, ON to serve the North East Region. The contract is for a period of 12 months.
Summary:
This position is responsible for providing administrative and clerical assistance; ensuring the efficient daily operation of the office, while operating within standard operating policies, procedures, and practices.
Preferred qualifications:
• Knowledge of office equipment such as telephones, photocopier and scanner to copy material and transmit correspondence;
• Proficiency in data entry, scanning and preparing accurate correspondence including but not limited to reports, briefs and records;
• Knowledge of court processes, procedures, operations and legal terminology;
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary professional setting;
• Exceptional organizational skills and verbal and written communication;
• Demonstrated proficiency in a Microsoft Office suite;
• Experience working with Enterpol system, NICHE RMS (including Records Management System procedures), CPIC, ICON is considered an asset;
• A diploma in Business Administration, Law or appropriate equivalent from a recognized post secondary institution is considered an asset.

The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service requires one (1) Compensation & Benefits Administrator for our General Headquarters, based in Thunder Bay, ON. This is a full-time position and will work Monday-Friday, 35 hours/week.
Summary
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Compensation and Benefits Administrator is responsible for a variety of personnel related duties including administering payroll, assist in the coordination of disability management, maintain payroll related files, administering pension plan and employee benefit plan, processing all leaves of absence, and provide payroll related assistance/advice to staff members.
Preferred Knowledge and Experience:
• Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Finance;
• Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certification with the National Payroll Institute (NPI), considered an asset;
• 3 to 5 years’ experience working in a payroll setting, experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset;
• Performing payroll functions using ADP or similar software;
• Interpreting and applying collective agreements and payroll legislation, WSIB legislation and pension legislation;
• Administering pension plans (defined benefit);
• Producing government remittance and payroll documents (WSIB, ROE, T4);
• Administering employee benefit plans (Manulife, Claim Secure, Canada Life);
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
• Ability to work independently with excellent organizational and time management skills;
• Previous experience in a non-profit or Indigenous organization is considered an asset.

Guard
In order to apply you must meet the following criteria:
- Be 19 years of age or older
- Be of good character and not have a criminal record for which a pardon has no been granted
- Keep information obtained while employed as a guard/matron confidential and must be willing to sign an oath of secrecy and confidentiality

As of October 1, 2023, rate of pay for Guards is $30.00 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay. Guards who are willing to complete Caretaker duties separate of their Guard duties will be compensated at $25.00 per hour. Duties for Caretaker may include light cleaning, snow removal for walkways and lawn care. Caretaker duties are optional while employed as a Guard.

The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service requires one (1) Facilities Assistant based in Thunder Bay, ON to serve the North East Region, North West Region, and Central Region.
Summary
The Facilities Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the efficient operation, safety, and upkeep of police service facilities across multiple locations. This position is responsible for ensuring that all buildings are maintained in compliance with health and safety regulations, security standards, and operational requirements unique to policing environments. The Facilities Assistant supports daily operations by coordinating contractors, assisting with purchasing and sourcing of materials, monitoring building systems, and providing front-line support for workplace health and safety initiatives. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize competing demands, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and functional environment for sworn and civilian members of the police service.
Preferred qualifications:
• Post-secondary education in Facility Management, Building Maintenance, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field;
• Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in facilities operations, building maintenance, or facility management, preferably in a multi-site environment;
• Knowledge of standards and best practices in facility management, including space utilization and sustainability;
• Vendor and contractor management, including tendering, contracts, and service-level agreements;
• Procurement processes, inventory control, and cost management;
• Knowledge of facility management software, work order systems, and digital record-keeping.
• Certification in Facility Management (such as IFMA’s FMP, CFM, or equivalent) is considered an asset;
• Principles of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems;
• Preventative maintenance practices and asset lifecycle management;
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and building code compliance.
Required qualifications:
• Must be able to pass a background security investigation;
• Ability to pass certification of Dangerous Goods Handling and WHMIS;
• Class G drivers license, clean driving abstract.

Summary:

• Three (3) years experience in Finance Administrator role;
