SEARCH WARRANTS IN FORT ALBANY FIRST NATION LEAD TO ARRESTS, DRUG SEIZURES
(Fort Albany First Nation) – Police arrested four suspects and seized a quantity of drugs, including Fentanyl and Crystal Methamphetamine, following the search of two Fort Albany First Nation homes Monday.
Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service’s Intelligence Unit, with assistance from the NAPS Emergency Response Team and K9 Unit, executed a pair of search warrants at residential addresses in the community of Fort Albany First Nation on Monday, March 23.
The search warrants were obtained as a result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking activity within the community.
During their search of a home in the zero-to-100 block of Main Street, police located and arrested a male suspect without incident. Police located and seized a quantity of suspected Cocaine and cash.
During their search of a home in the zero-to-100 block of Mikkisoh Road, police located and arrested three suspects without incident.
Police also located and seized a quantity of suspected Fentanyl, Crystal Methamphetamine, Psylocibin, cash, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.
The quantity of cash seized totals more than $6,000, and the estimated street value of drugs seized totals $20,000.
Carlene METATAWABIN, 26, of Fort Albany First Nation, is charged with:
• Possession of Psilocybin for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
Miller Floyd NAKOGEE, 41, of Fort Albany First Nation, is charged with:
• Possession of Psilocybin for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
Shane RUEBEN, 37, of Moosonee, Ont., is charged with:
• Possession of Psilocybin for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
A 53-year-old male from Fort Albany First Nation is charged with:
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
Carlene METATAWABIN appeared for a bail hearing on March 24 and was released from custody with a future court date.
RUEBEN and NACKOGEE, and the 53-year-old male suspect have since been released with conditions and future court dates.
The names of accused are withheld until charges against them have been sworn in before the courts.
