NAKINA DRUG SEIZURE MADE BY THE COMBINED FORCES ORGANIZED CRIME UNIT Print

The Combined Forces Organized Crime Unit consists of members from The Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service, The Thunder Bay Police Service, The O.P.P.- Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, The R.C.M.P., and The Anishinabek Police Service.

(Nakina, ON)  On May 16, 2012, the Combined Forces Drug Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act at a residence located in the town of Nakina, Ontario.

Police believe that the location of this drug seizure will affect any possible drug movement to the communities of Aroland First Nation, Eabametoong First Nation, Long Lake 58 First Nation, Longlac, and Geraldton.

Police seized forty-two thousand five-hundred sixty ($42,560.00) dollars worth of Marihuana and Hashish, two-hundred forty ($240.00) dollars in Canadian Currency, various debt lists, drug paraphernalia, and a press used to brick Hashish.

Forty-six (46) year-old Ronald PODURGIEL, a recent resident of Nakina and formerly of the Greater Toronto area, has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Production of a Substance.

PODURGIEL was released on conditions and will next attend court on June 14, 2012 in Geraldton, Ontario.

Nakina, Ontario is located approximately 300 km northeast of Thunder Bay.
