TWO FORT ALBANY RESIDENTS FACE DRUG CHARGES BY NAPS Print

(Fort Albany) On March 1, 2011, Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit members charged a man and woman after executing a search warrant issued under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act at a residence in the Fort Albany First Nation.

With the assistance of the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Guns and Gangs and the Canine Unit and the Ontario Provincial Police, police seized three thousand four-hundred forty dollars ($3,440.00) worth of Cocaine, one thousand nine-hundred seventy dollars ($1,970.00) worth of Alcohol, and one thousand four-hundred twenty dollars ($1,420.00) in currency.

Thirty-nine (39) year-old Linda Marie TOOKATE of Fort Albany First Nation is charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Eighteen (18) year-old Travis Ernest TOOKATE of Fort Albany First Nation is also charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Both persons have been released from police custody on a Promise to Appear for court in Fort Albany on June 16, 2011.

Fort Albany First Nation is located approximately 400 km north of Cochrane.
