DRUGS HEADED FOR EABAMETOONG INTERCEPTED BY POLICE Print

(Thunder Bay, ON)  On October 27, 2010, Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit members along with the Combined Forces Organized Crime Unit conducted a drug trafficking investigation involving a man and two women.

The drugs seized included prescription pills destined for the First Nation community of Eabametoong.  Approximately one thousand three-hundred forty dollars ($1,340.00) in Canadian currency, 48 OxyContin prescription pills, and 5 grams of Marijuana was seized from three individuals.  The northern street value of the seized drugs is approximately nineteen thousand three-hundred ($19,300.00) dollars.

Thirty-nine (39) year-old Casey BAXTER of Nakina was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance. 

Nineteen (19) year-old Breanne FISHER of Nakina was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance.

Nineteen (19) year-old Raquel MISSEWACE (NATE) of Marten Falls First Nation was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance.  BAXTER, FISHER, and MISSEWACE (NATE) were all released on an Appearance Notice for court in Thunder Bay on December 3, 2010.

Eabametoong First Nation is located approximately 385 km northeast of Thunder Bay.
