PRESCRIPTION DRUG WARRANT EXECUTED Print

(Thunder Bay) On October 29, 2009 a warrant executed by Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Section prevented prescription drugs from delivery to the two remote northern First Nation communities.

A street value of approximately four thousand eight hundred dollars ($4,800.00) worth of Percocet prescription drugs were seized from a Limbrick Place residence.  The drugs were destined for the communities of Neskantaga First Nation (Lansdowne House) and Webequie First Nation.

Thirty-three (33) year old Sheila Kelly Jane MEKANAK was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.  Forty (40) year old Noah MEKANAK was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.  Twenty (20) year old Natalie Rosanne MOONIAS was arrested on an outstanding warrant and also charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.  Forty-four (44) year old Victor MISSEWACE was charged with Possession of a Substance.

All were released on a Promise to Appear for court in Thunder Bay on November 26, 2009. 

Neskantaga First Nation is located approximately 580 kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay.  Webequie First Nation is located approximately 650 kilometres north of Thunder Bay.
