Moose Factory, ON: Weapons Charges Print

On September 3, 2009 at 2:30 a.m. Nishnawbe-Aski Police responded to a report of shots fired at a residence located within the First Nation community of Moose Factory.

An adult male was alone within his residence when Nishnawbe-Aski Police members, assisted by Ontario Provincial Police investigated. A number of discharges from a shotgun were found to have been made and subsequently, two firearms were seized from the residence.

Thirty-three (33) year-old Jonathan HOOKIMAW was arrested for two counts of Weapon Possession for Dangerous Purpose, five counts of Uttering Threats of Death or Bodily Harm, and two counts of Firearm or Weapon Possession Contrary to Prohibition Order. He has been remanded into custody for a court appearance on September 8, 2009, in Timmins, Ontario.

Moose Factory First Nation is located approximately 298 kilometres north of Cochrane, Ontario.
