On December 3, 2008 at approximately 2:39 p.m., the Nishnawbe-Aski police responded to a fight in progress at the Peawanuck First Nation band office.

Police responded and located a Peawanuck First Nation member in a corner of his office being confronted by a man wielding a knife. The police initiated a high-risk take down and the officer arrested the suspect without incident.

The victim received injuries to his head, arm and thigh. He has been medivaced to the hospital in Moose Factory, Ontario. He is in stable condition.

Thirty ├▒three (33) - year old Ken Mack of Peawanuck First Nation is charged with attempted murder and he will be arraigned for a remand hearing on December 5th, 2008 in Cochrane Ontario.
