UPDATE - MISHKEEGOGAMANG RESIDENTIAL FIRE UNDER INVESTIGATION PDF Print E-mail

(Mishkeegogamang, ON)  On Thursday, February 13, 2014, at approximately 3:00 am., Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service members at the Mishkeegogamang Detachment began an investigation following the report of a residential fire. 

As a result of a joint force investigation with the following agencies; the Nishnawbe-Aski Police North West Region Crime Unit, the Ontario Provincial Police Forensic Identification Service, as well as the Ontario Fire Marshal Emergency Management Fire Investigation Services, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, and, the Office of the Chief Coroner, it can now be confirmed that the human remains of four individuals have been located within the dwelling.

The post mortem examinations are to be conducted in Toronto, Ontario at the Provincial Pathology Unit later this week. 

This investigation is still ongoing and further updates will be released as they become available. 

Mishkeegogamang First Nation is located approximately 315 km northwest of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
