(Summer Beaver, ON)  On April 6, 2013, the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Guns & Gangs Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit attended the First Nation community of Nibinamik (Summer Beaver) and executed a search warrant as a result of an ongoing investigation.

The search led police to locate two Norinko AK-47 semi-automatic assault rifles and one high-capacity 30 round magazine. 

The seizure of the Prohibited Firearms and Prohibited Device prevented a serious incident from occurring in the community of Nibinamik First Nation.  No charges have been laid at this time and the Guns & Gangs Unit is continuing the investigation. 

Nibinamik First Nation is approximately 500 km northwest of Thunder Bay.
