YOUTH CHARGED WITH DRUG POSSESSION IN FORT HOPE PDF Print E-mail

(Fort Hope, ON)  On March 25, 2013, the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit and the Eabametoong Detachment began an investigation with regard to drugs being illegally transported from Thunder Bay to Eabametoong First Nation (Fort Hope).

As a result of the investigation, a parcel seized by police was found to contain approximately ninety (90) grams of Cannabis Marihuana.  The estimated street value of the seized drugs in the remote community is approximately three thousand six-hundred ($3,600.00) dollars.

The youth who cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.  The youth was released from custody on conditions and will next appear for court in Eabametoong on June 13, 2013.

Eabametoong First Nation is located approximately 385 km northeast of Thunder Bay.
