(Kashechewan, ON)  On June 29, 2012, the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service along with the assistance of Band Council members attended at the Kashechewan airport with regard to an investigation into alcohol being smuggled into the community prior to the Canada Day long weekend.

Several types of alcohol ranging in size from 750 millilitres to 1 litre-sized bottles were seized by police.  The amount of alcohol seized and the street value was approximately thirty (30 L) litres at seven thousand two-hundred ($7,200.00) dollars.

There have not been any charges reported to be laid at this time.

Kashechewan First Nation is located approximately 500 km northwest of Timmins, Ontario.
