UPDATE - NISHNAWBE-ASKI POLICE INVESTIGATE SCHOOL FIRE IN SANDY LAKE PDF Print E-mail

 

(Sandy Lake, ON) On February 19, 2012, at 12:27 p.m., the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service began an investigation into a fire which caused extensive damage at the Thomas Fiddler Memorial School located in Sandy Lake First Nation.

As a result of the assistance of the Ontario Fire Marshall, police are now investigating the fire as Arson. The damage estimate is being assessed at this time and is not available.

Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Sandy Lake Detachment is looking for assistance from the public with any information about the school fire. Please either contact the NAPS Sandy Lake Detachment at 807-774-4471 or report anonymously to CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Sandy Lake First Nation is located approximately 600 km northwest of Thunder Bay.
