      DE:

(Thunder Bay, ON)  The Nishnawbe-Aski Police would like to announce a police recruitment initiative that will help out interested persons who seek more information about a career in First Nations Policing.

NAPS Bound is a two-day event occurring on May 8 – 9, 2012, targeting individuals from the Nishnawbe-Aski Nation (NAN) who may or may not have thought of a policing career with NAPS.  The Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS) serves 35 of the 49 NAN communities.

Chief Claude Chum is pleased to impart his vision of this rewarding career opportunity, continuing to promote partnerships between the people in the community and their police service.  Leadership/Self-Confidence, Physical Training, and Education are areas of focus that will show candidates what it takes to become a police officer.  Candidates will also learn about various police roles, traditional teachings, and participate in a mentoring/question and answer session with experienced police officers, including our policing partner, the Ontario Provincial Police.
NAPS Bound is open to Nishnawbe-Aski Nation men and women between the ages of 18 and 25 years.  This event will be held in Thunder Bay and there is no cost for successful candidates.  Applications can be obtained and submitted online at the naps.ca website.
