SEARCH WARRANT EXECUTED IN CAT LAKE PDF Print E-mail

The Combined Forces Organized Crime Unit consists of members from The Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service, The Thunder Bay Police Service, The O.P.P.- Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, The R.C.M.P., and The Anishinabek Police Service.

(Cat Lake, ON) On January 23, 2012, Nishnawbe-Aski Police Cat Lake Detachment members assisted the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau in executing a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a residence located on the Cat Lake First Nation.

Police seized approximately four hundred ($400.00) dollars worth of Oxycodone and one thousand eight-hundred ($1,800.00) in Canadian currency.  Three firearms were also seized, one of which was wanted in connection with a separate investigation by the Nishnawbe-Aski Gang Enforcement Unit.

Paul MEZZETAY, with strong ties to the Native Syndicate gang, and Sarah MEZZETAY have each been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Proceeds of Crime, and three counts of Careless Storage of a Firearm.

Knobby WESLEY has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.

All three persons charged have been released on conditions and will next appear in court on June 26, 2012 in Cat Lake, Ontario.

Cat Lake First Nation is approximately 550 km northwest of Thunder Bay.
