NISHNAWBE-ASKI POLICE SEIZE DRUGS DESTINED FOR KASHECHEWAN PDF Print E-mail

(Kashechewan, ON) On December 29, 2011, the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit with the assistance of the Fort Albany detachment and North East Region Crime Unit charged a woman after intercepting a shipment of drugs destined for the community of Kashechewan First Nation.

Police seized a parcel that contained approximately sixty-one (61) grams of Marihuana with an estimated northern street value of two thousand four hundred ($2,400.00) dollars.

As a result of the investigation thirty-two (32) year-old Kathy Kimberly KOOSEES of Kashechewan First Nation was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. KOOSEES was released on conditions and will appear in court in Kashechewan on March 28, 2012.

Kashechewan First Nation is located approximately 500 km northwest of Timmins, Ontario.
