DRUG WARRANT EXECUTED IN NESKANTAGA FIRST NATION PDF Print E-mail

(Lansdowne House, ON)   On November 9, 2011, members of the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Drug Enforcement Unit along with members of the Neskantaga Detachment and the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a residence located on the Neskantaga First Nation (Lansdowne House).

A search of the residence resulted in a seizure of 38 ½ Oxycodone prescription pills and one thousand four hundred fifty-five ($1,455.00) dollars in currency.  The total northern street value for the seized Oxycodone is approximately nineteen thousand two hundred fifty ($19,250.00) dollars, bringing the total seizure amount to twenty thousand seven hundred five ($20,705.00) dollars.

Thirty-two (32) year-old Isabel Peggy SAKANEE of Neskantaga First Nation, along with a female youth who cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, have each been charged with one count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.  SAKANEE and the female youth have both been released on conditions and will appear in court in Neskantaga First Nation on March 8, 2012.

Twenty-seven (27) year-old Ryan Wesley MOONIAS of Neskantaga First Nation has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.  MOONIAS also has several outstanding charges before the court being Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Breach of Undertaking, Resist Arrest, and Breach of Probation.  MOONIAS is being held in custody pending a remand hearing.

Neskantaga First Nation is approximately 580 km northwest of Thunder Bay.

The Combined Forces Organized Crime Unit consists of members from The Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service, The Thunder Bay Police Service, The O.P.P.- Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, The R.C.M.P., and The Anishinabek Police Service.
