MAN AND WOMAN CHARGED WITH TRAFFICKING TO FIRST NATION PERSONS PDF Print E-mail

(Thunder Bay, ON)  On May 19, 2011, members from the Combined Forces Organized Crime Unit successfully conducted an Undercover Investigation in the City of Thunder Bay with arrests of two individuals and the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant.

Drug Enforcement Officers, assisted by the Guns and Gangs Unit, Canine Unit, and Uniform Patrol arrested two individuals who are alleged to be responsible for trafficking in Oxycodone tablets and Morphine tablets within the City of Thunder Bay, primarily to First Nation people.

An Undercover purchase was made of 20 Oxycodone tablets followed by a Controlled Drugs and Substances Warrant being executed at a Thunder Bay residence on Fitzgerald Street.

Seized were 42 x Oxycodone 5 mg tablets, 32 x Morphine 60 mg tablets and 45 x Morphine 15 mg tablets.  Police also seized a 30.06 calibre rifle that was carelessly stored.  The northern street value of the drugs seized is approximately three thousand eight hundred seventy-five dollars ($3,875.00).

Forty-eight (48) year-old Jesse Rita MAGISKAN of Aroland First Nation has been charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance, and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and Fail to Comply with an Undertaking under the Criminal Code of Canada.

Forty-eight (48) year-old Andrew Clarence WILLIAMS of Gull Bay First Nation has been charged with Careless Storage of a Firearm under the Criminal Code of Canada.

Both MAGISKAN and WILLIAMS appear in court on May 20, 2011, in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

The Combined Forces Organized Crime Unit consists of members from The Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service, The Thunder Bay Police Service, The O.P.P.- Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, The R.C.M.P., and The Anishinabek Police Service.
