LARGE LIQUOR SEIZURE FROM PLANE PDF Print E-mail

(Kashechewan, ON) On September 9, 2010, Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service received a confidential tip about suspicious packages on a plane destined for the Kashechewan First Nation.

Police notified the Kashechewan Band Council which resulted in a significant amount of alcohol being seized with a street value between eleven thousand two-hundred dollars ($11,200.00) and sixteen thousand dollars ($16,000.00).  The alcohol seized consisted of 750 ml bottles of vodka and whiskey.  The seized liquor was handed over to police.

The matter is still under investigation, No charges have been laid at this time.

Kashechewan First Nation is located along the West shore of James Bay, approximately 120 kilometres northwest of Moosonee, Ontario.
