INVESTIGATION INTO DEATH OF CAT LAKE MAN PDF Print E-mail

(Cat Lake, ON) On September 9, 2010, members of the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Cat Lake Detachment were called to assist the nursing station staff with an adult male who was being examined at the nursing station.

A short time later, the adult male had stopped breathing and immediate efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.  The deceased is identified as thirty-four (34) year-old Romeo Gerald WESLEY of Cat Lake First Nation.

The Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service has requested the Ontario Provincial Police North West Region Crime Unit and the North West Region Forensic Identification Services to do an independent review of the circumstances leading up to this unfortunate event.  

Cat Lake First Nation is approximately 180 km north of Sioux Lookout.
