Kashechewan, ON - On the 29th of January 2010, Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service responded to a report of a motorized snow vehicle accident in the first nation community of Kashechewan. 

24 year old Alfred WESLEY Jr. a local community member was traveling in an isolated area of the community by the edge of a river.  Mr. WESLEY lost control of the snowmobile and was trapped underneath of the snow mobile.  Alcohol was deemed not a factor in the accident.

Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service was assisted in the investigation by the Forensic Identification Unit and the Accident Reconstruction Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police.

Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service reminds snowmobilers to ride with caution, be aware of your surroundings and let someone know where you are going and when you should return.  Please ride safe.

Kashechewan First Nation is on the west cost of James Bay, 450 kilometers north of Timmins.
